The Age of Customization
It’s been widely documented that social media has forever altered the way businesses interact with their customers, and the way customers connect to each other. Adam Singer, the Director of Digital Strategy for Pierson Grant Public Relations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has some interesting thoughts about the “Digital Divide” among business for those who “get it” and those who don’t:
I enjoyed my breakfast while reading RSS feeds through my iPhone - where I am receiving exactly the information I want without ads that are of no meaning to me and without articles that don’t pertain to my world or industry. There is only a fleeting amount of time (the most precious resource) daily, and there is no reason to waste it reading something that was designed for a previous era. The one-size-fits-all, shotgun approach is over. Let the age of customization begin.
Customization of news is so much more efficient I do not understand how anyone can read a printed newspaper any longer. Everyone reading this through RSS is well aware this is the future.
News stories are only one piece of the customization puzzle through tools like RSS. Sites like Facebook allow us to customize our friend interactions; and have information about their doings comes to us via “The News Feed.”
Why should events, schedules, and itineraries be any different?
Currently, your customers, fans, and clients have to seek out and find event information, a Web 1.0 model. With Synchevents, event information can be downloaded directly to a calendar along with all the relevant details. This allows you to take your events directly to those who want it. The information they want is in their calendar no matter where they are, and if any details change, it’s automatically updated.
